I feel ya...Don't worry. After society collapses, we can grow gardens part of the day and then philosophize together throughout the rest of it. 🌱

it was Yang Wenli who said humanity has been drinking for 8,000 years and i'm not going to stop today and abandon a friend
Depends on where and what kinda place you'd want to stay. Depending on the state and if the location is more urban, I believe a lot of available apartments are posted online on social media and such. It feels risky, but most times it's the only thing that'll get you a good deal on a place. Apologies if that's obvious.
Do whatever you can to move to a blue state, even a red county in a blue state. Regardless of your politics, they have more services, better help, and are generally nicer overall because of community investment. That's all just stuff you can look up. I moved to a blue state for the first time and I feel like I finally understand what ppl mean when they say the USA is a first world country.
Subleasing is a method, if u dont have many connections/potential roommates w where ur trying to move u can just sublease an apartment for a couple months and use that time to find roommates and a better job. if u do this tho i think its a good idea to keep the furniture and items as easily transportable as possible to keep moving costs low and in case dire circumstances happen and u need to jump to another sublease
also if u sublease u dont have to put in a security deposit
craigslist has helped me over the years!
