Using pacman -Qm to check my foreign packages. None of them appear to be the ones that were compromised followed by this script from catchy OS thread: bash <(curl -s https://cscs.pastes.sh/raw/aurvulntest20260611.sh) it appears none of my packages are compromised (at least that's what I hope).

I am safu. Everything is fire. There's a better overview and update here: https://thecybersecguru.com/news/atomic-arch-aur-supply-chain-attack-ebpf-rootkit/ But suffice to say, I probably won't be updating for the time being. I got a Devuan iso so now I have to mentally debate myself if I should make the switch back to Debian based distros (For my X230T specifically, I run Mint on my desktop).

I've been tempted to try something besides mint for a long time but I just cant justify that

Mint is fine. Just werks for the most part. But on my laptop, I stride towards minimalist i3wm setups. I like having the ability to switch workspaces with bindings and use less than 4GB of ram on the daily.

Modern gaming is mostly dead. Take the retropill. Last Switch game I bought was WiZmans World, port of a 2010 DS JRPG. Emulation is free and easy.

Always had, but I like making myself feel pain every once in a while and checking in on the state of gaming. It's like watching a train wreck.

I've been playing King's Fields on PS1 and it's fantastic. I'm going to talk about it in my dailyblog today.

My Summer of No Games Post/E3 Posts are traditional for this time of year. I enjoy blogging about it despite my anger with the industry as a whole.

Oh yeah I still "follow" things, kind of. Every Thursday I check GameFAQs, the eShop, and VNDB. Usually I end up wishlisting whatever just came out on Arcade Archives kek.

I think it helps to keep myself informed with the current industry in the moment I'd ever run into another gamer in the wild. The last time I had a conversation with another gamer IRL was with the Gamestop employee years ago. My cousin doesn't count because we both think the same and we're both jaded.

King's Field is cool dude. I've played both "part ones" -- the Japanese one and the American which as you said is actually #2. Tough bastards, never finished them, good luck!!

With these two new PS3 games, I've updated my vidya list. Wasn't expecting to expand it anytime soon.

I've had good luck buying cartridge-based retro vidya at GameStop. The disc stuff (PS2, 360, whatever) is always in ass shape and overpriced.

I did not see any cartridge stuff other than some DS games. My area is barren so it's not surprising.

A small 10 second teaser isn't enough for me to judge the new remake. I kind of like Wii Sports and the new one lets you use Miis instead of whatever those avatar knock offs are. Still not convinced to buy a Switch 2 after that show. Oh well. I need to hold onto my money anyways.

Betting on a OOT remake, it's too obvious. I'd be stunted if it wasn't.

Thanks for reminder. I'm gonna try to watch ๐ God willing it won't be in Unreal Engine, but an Ocarina remake might make me break the no-remakes rule.
"Playing online should be a basic human right" so true also i hate that the 360 started achievements, they ruined video games by turning them into checklists.
Also true btw. First image related.
Also forgot to mention how wonderful Halo's OST really is. I would love to play Halo 3: ODST someday just for the music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWh9l8RSkPk
