What a pleasant post. I'm younger, in a bit of a similar situation about my virginity, only different because I have been on a couple of dates. People who are good, genuinely good, even a bit like God, very much like God if they do happen to be over 30 years old, a virgin, and living with their mother are hated very much by society. It's because the world hates God, and I've found few people who observed this effect

In any case, it's good to hear that you've found peace about not having a relationship. Mean, to me, you're only incelibate if you can't even get an escort to run with you. Still, from the perspective of God, recently I've found that most men are made from His permissive will (when God as a rule allows men to go against His will to make a human; like in fornication or rape) and very few are made from His actual will.

That's why Jesus says in regard to baptism, His followers are born not of man, but of the Spirit. It's about how men are born according to God's will versus man's will. Is it the will of God that a man be born from rape? No, it's not. God will still make a man born from the sin, but it's not His will. Rather, it's man's will to make that man.

This also applies to men created through fornication. That's man's will, not God's. Opposite to that, if God desires to make a man, He will make them from those who have kept His Commandments, and will often contrive some means for them to make the child He desires, such as in the case of the Virgin Mary's parents. Per Catholic tradition, God's Mom's Dad wasn't traditionally attractive or desired, so go figure.

So there's hope for the celibate who keep God's Commandments if they desire to be married. Still, this too is a part of God's will, and that's celibacy unto death. That's a harder saying, and those allied with God reason it's okay being that God Himself did the same as a man.

As a non-westerner, I roll my eyes every time the word "virgin" is used as an insult. Modern westies are so obsessed with having s*x that they measure their value based on it. Reducing your entire existence to such an act makes you no different than an ant or a worm. You are supposed to be a *rational* animal, not an animal :|

I suppose I'm gong all in on cutting some vices in my life. Can't really cut any food because I'm in survival mode, but I've been reconsidering my wardrobe. I have a lot of t-shirts I hate wearing and frankly, I want to reduce my clothes down to something smaller but more durable, high quality, and comfortable for the heat.

It said Saint Alphonsus never said that, and I wasted 5 minutes telling it that I literally read a book literally written by the very Saint in church.

@rainight That's the word he used. If a soul can't love God, then the soul may yet come to God through the threat of Hell. It's kind of like an arranged marriage you don't want any part of. You don't really like the guy, but, if you don't marry him, you'll get shot. Personally, my affair with God started in that way; being an obstinent sinner, struck with the threat of Hell, and a slight taste of it on Earth.

@thelesserword i'm sorry but that sounds so insane and *really* not loving. which saint has written that? it makes God's gift of Heaven sound like a threat, when in reality it is being in His holy presence by choosing to partake in His kingdom. i really don't like the view of hell being a punishment, since it is in our own free will to choose or deny Christ. denying Him will just grant that soul's wish: being alone

and reading in the Bible, the story of Lazarus and Rich man shows that the rich man lives in eternal separation from Christ due to his actions: "And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us." (Luke 16:26)

@vihmu It would have been Saint Alphonsus Liguori, a Doctor of the Church. He was commenting for his writing's on the sacred heart on the nature of sin, how God uses sin's consequences on Earth and the consequences of it after life as a method of drawing souls to Himself. Atheists are right to comment how the love of God can sometimes be summed as "Worship me or literally die," but they aren't wrong.

If you sin, you die, and if you remain in sin, you got to Hell. It is then, God's pleasure, to wrestle a soul from the pit against their will. And, if they are still obstinate at that point, then they die forever. For this particular case, a soul in sin is like a daughter resting in the arms of an abusive man.

She chooses to be with her abuser. As a father, as her father, he has his rights to wrestle her away from her abuser, confine her even, if only for her sake. So, if fathers can discipline children against their will, then the Father has permission to do the same, and the Bridegroom that is Christ being one with the Father also has that same permission to chastise and punish for the sake of a soul
