Alternate take: just do what you love for as long as it is fun, and don't worry about readership. I see a lot of people including myself put pressure on themselves when really there is none. What point is a hobby that is not fun! Have a good break, Neocities will still be here when you're ready!

Ngl, i feel lightly similar about my website aswell,, even on days where i'm doing nothing at all i'm unconsciously pressuring myself to do something since my website is the most success i've ever had as an attempt to socialize and reach the world (I have a fear of becoming forgotten forever). I hope you are able to take it easy and take a good rest from your burnout.

thanks for the encouragement, everyone. i wouldn't say it's so much that i'm "worried about readership" as why do i bother spending hours coding stuff that (as far as i can tell) nobody is gonna see. lately i've just felt like doing my hobbies irl and not putting in the effort to share anything about it. but i do enjoy having my gallery pages and stuff to look back at, so i'm sure i'll come back to it eventually..

I hadn't been able to work on my site in months and while I get the feeling that my recent updates have less views, the few post interactions that I do see are familiar faces that I enjoy... I also try telling myself that usually, people do view sites (and other things), but they don't really make their presence known unless there's a "call to action" (like this post that you made). I totally get the feeling though!
