Cool trip, cool photos. I don't think many people know about the other St Petersburg, it even confuses Americans. Also, are the modern Russian high rise apartments actually called "Putin blocks"? haha
Beautiful pics, specially the illuminations, night time hermitage museum, 34_city (looks delicious) and Aurora, but the highlights for me are 81_5 (maybe it's made by a jap manufacturer but that bus design screams russia), 90_bike (BEAUTIFUL sky) and 111_night -- feels straight out of an early 3D videogame in how the street light reflects on the near-perfect octagonal snow-free floor. Unintentionally creepy-charming.
And also really cool horizontal page design, that really adds to the experience. I daresay one of the reasons you may not have enjoyed St. Petersburg as much as Moscow is because St. Petersburg feels to me like a more touristy city.
Still rambling about 111_night -- and how there seems like a shadow at each vertex of the octagon, like a bug in the lighting engine. Really, really nice picture.
Thank you very much, スレナガ! Here are the pics you liked in full res, in case you want them https://imgur.com/a/8yyORn4. And about the "touristy" part - great point; it did indeed felt like that. In Moscow I didn't feel like a tourist at all, it felt much more natural. Cheers for pointing it out.
https://saint-images.okinawa/stuff/saint_petersburg.html - finally finished the page about my visit to Saint Petersburg.

I've heard it used a couple of times, although it's not nearly as widely used as "Khrushchyovka" or "Brezhnevka" :D
Haha, so people refer to them as "Путинка" or something?
Yeah haha, it's a name of both a brand of vodka and a of newly built blocks of flats.
Pretty cool! The page itself is especially fun to scroll through with a laptop touchscreen. Also I love the snowman.
