The perks of having been learning a tiny bit of Portuguese on and off for about a year: I still can't even write the simplest texts, BUT thanks to mutual intelligibility between Spanish and Portuguese I understood the two new sentences in your diary without a translator or even a dictionary!
Yep, many times portuguese is completely understandable knowing spanish too, very useful for reading brazilian memes haha
