@benny i had trouble but they said it was because of my vpn. apparently they don't let you register with a vpn to block spammers

i just found out that youtube doesn't count views from freetube, since freetube blocks the tracking cookies necessary for that. but i'm still gonna avoid youtube for as long as i can

you said you looking for youtube alternatives for the boycott: i personally use peertube. i've also tried out vanillo. it was alright. i also have a list of youtube alternatives in my list of "degoogling resources" on my blog. hope that helps

btw just so you know some people are gonna stop using youtube after august 12th to protest the anti-vpn laws in the uk. since they're one of the companies planning on complying with them

as in, pulling up a video on freetube, either watching on FT or getting a link with which to download as mp4 / MP3 for music

Dang I didn't even realise this protest was happening - I'll be keeping clear of YouTube for a while!

@bloodbathspite what about podcasts on apple podcasts? your local public media station's app may have some on-demand podcasts. also some local libraries offer free streaming documentaries and podcasts.

@bloodbathspite i use peertube & vanillo mainly. you could always watch youtube with a proxy/frontend like freetube
