fyi, breaking my rss feed is like, my *thing*. I never learn. I refuse to automate. I just stitch the thing together and hope for the best.

Thanks Dmans! I'm not one for taking lots of photos of everything either, unless I think it's especially interesting. I feel like I say this to everyone here, but your site looks cool. Look forward to checking out the old net stories in particular.

what a beautiful post, it makes me think of that maya quote about how people will remember how you make them feel. you might not recall your grandmother’s voice, but you do remember she was kind. she’d probably want you to remember that too over her voice.

That's crazy, I literally only read it a few weeks back. Such a wonderful little book. It's probably why I've been thinking about this stuff.

I used to write under a different pen name and domain here, so that's probably it. actually, I think we may have followed each other before? In any case, your site is awesome and congrats on the news with your project! <3
it’s trite to cry black mirror but i only watched the first season of that show and among those episodes the only that stood out was the grieftech episode. a humanoid bot that looks identical to the deceased. all those years ago the episode made my skin crawl but also gave me a feeling of dread: it seemed such a realistic use of technology — recreating the dead — that it seemed inevitable.
grief is terrible and it’s natural that people would grasp for any way to be with who they lost again… it’s so sad. it isn’t right to prey on the grieving yet it’s inevitable — it’s so lucrative.
I haven’t watched much of Black Mirror, but I have seen that episode. And yeah, it’s the believability that made it so eerie. It never ceases to amaze me the complete lack of morality tech bros have.
