i've been watching movies as bedtime stories each night. So far ive watched: Paprika, No Country For Old Men, Obsession, Kamikaze Girls, and American Psycho.
I really liked Paprika, Kamikaze Girls, No Country For Old Men, and Obsession. I couldn't stop thinking about Obsession after I watched it, it honestly put me in a bit of a bad mood for the past few days. Really good horror movie. Haunting. Definitely can tell
2) That Curry Barker likes Ari Aster films. Hereditary haunted me for awhile after I watched it too. Horrid. Never want to see either of those movies again but I think that's what makes it so Good!
I did not really like American Psycho because I genuinely just don't like Patrick Bateman at all. He is just insufferable and annoying and that's the whole point of his character, but I just didn't want to see his face
3) past a certain point. Which was probably about 20 minutes in I was fed up with it ... I trucked on... to mark it off my list... but I didn't really enjoy watching that movie. Sorry. I think it's a good film, just not for me at all.
4) to add on ... there's killer characters that I actually do like because I think they're interesting and have beautiful harcuts, a la Anton Chigurh! but ... Bateman wasn't even interesting to me man he just was insufferable and annoying and genuinely stupid and Horrid I just wanted him off my screen immediately. Horrid. Horrible. He has every quality of what I avoid in a person. And that's the Point that's
5) The Point but. ...... I JUST HATED IT!!!!! That's why I think it's a good film still even if I didn't really like it. Cause wow they really know how to make an insufferable character...
6) TLDR: American Psycho is a really good film because it does what it intends to do and says what it is meant to say, but Patrick Bateman is actually such an insufferable wet noodle bland white bread uncomfortable loser that I wanted him off my screen and I did not particularly take any enjoyment out of watching the movie ... though that is the point of his character.
7) ADD ON MORE BC I LOVE TO TALK!: There's other films I watched that made me really uncomfortable but I still really liked (Obsession & Hereditary) because I thought they were interesting films in their own right, they kept me with my eyes glued to the screen and the horror of those two films just absolutely sticks to your mind. American Psycho just felt Bland because Bateman felt Bland ... but again, that's kind of
8) the whole point. Just a bunch of sameness same people doing things to Be The Same. So I don't say that as an insult, I think that's what makes the film good, it just isn't for me.
