Honestly, having TRIII as your favourite classic Tomb Raider is super powerful. I love the series but damn does that one test me with how cruel the level design can be (although playing it on PS1 and going for 100% secrets naturally didn't help due to save crystals and such). TR1 is my favourite currently, but I've only played 1, 3, Legend and 2013 so far.
XD I totally get that! I also was often very frustrated with it, but it left me feeling very satisfied! Thankfully my first playthrough of it was with the remastered. I don't know how you people did it with the save crystals: crazy hard!
TR1 was pretty fair but I feel TR2 was when they started relying on cheap instakills with no way to know unless you've played the level before. Such a great game but frustrating!
This was a great post. Personally, fascism never went away - fascists just became emboldened to show their true colors. America has an ugly history, and many of its policies from its past in racial segregation to take an example still leave inter generational trauma and economic effects today.
I've been battling with how I engage with social media myself lately. Isolation makes me lonely but social media is just... that. I miss forums focused on specific topics with moderation so you could just talk about your interest in a safe space, which doesn't really exist anymore, and even if it did I'd still be worried that the people I'm talking to about games or whatever could be secretly fascist which suuuucks.
The information overload is indeed damaging to our psyche. And it’s been normalized! I’m not sure i’ll ever stop using social media myself, as we all know that many “reputable” news sources no longer reports reputably, so unfortunately many alternative/independent news which exist mostly online are necessary to obtain world news updates. But, doomscrolling too much seems to paralyze me into inaction.
A balance must be found, but i blame the tech oligarchs who make billions off of my attention, and not myself, if i fumble in attaining true balance. An insightful blog post Nathan, look forward to more but no pressure :-)
what, other than a publicity stunt, could that "debate" have been anyway? there is no debate, no exchange of ideas, no attempt to sway anyone's opinions, just a piece of hate engagement to drive ad revenue. plus now that generative AI is powering most social media content... ugh. it's so demoralising. i'm glad you're getting out.
I have also been changing how I interact with social media. It's become so clear that it's all just about exploiting our outrage. People dress it up as ~staying informed, but what does it matter if I can't control any of the stuff I'm learning about? I subscribe to newsletters from some news outlets, use messaging apps to make plans with friends but I'm soo over social media as a whole. ty for sharing your thoughts.
THANK YOU NATHAN! Your Winx shrine is awesome, Stella is one of my favs too!! (But Flora is still my no. 1 🧚♀️)
i love both of your writing! in a content-driven society it seems like long-form writing of any kind is almost a lost art. glad to see you and so many others bringing it back <3
Thank you Tina! I love both of your blogs too, they are indeed refreshing and also very inspiring. We're all honest, opinionated, and true to ourselves and that's very important!!
today i'm actually very sad, but i decided to keep the entry positive. maybe soon i will talk a bit about how i'm doing :) <3
just a small update, nothing special. stay safe everyone!
hey nate! imo, you dont have to worry about whether your entries are upsetting at all! nevertheless, i understand and appreciate the warning in the previous post. recovery is never a linear journey. we could be fine for years and suddenly relapse without warning. i don't have an immediate solution for you, but i still fully empathize with how you feel. take one day at a time, be in touch with your emotions,
and no need to rush. good luck for your exams! no need to reply to this btw :)
