Without compare, oxipng is the best PNG optimizer available. In one sweep, it optimally compressed the totality of the S&S archive's 41K+ images (10% of which are quite large) in less than 70 minutes without incident. Pngcrush and optipng are still quite good, but they can't touch it. https://github.com/shssoichiro/oxipng
