you just use some image editing program. small buttons are usually 88x31 and are often animated.

you can do some cool stuff with https://www.online-image-editor.com including that beveled border effect

changed the index page, because i didn't quite like how it turned out before (soon a writing entry about that!). also, finally started coding in vscode first, so i can see the css changes immediately.
