ytmnd.com shutting down has really increased comment activity on the /r/ytmnd subreddit lately. Now, we gotta somehow get YTMND veterans to use Neocities.

re: Maybe what I could do, is make a simplified welcome page, and have that be mobile friendly, and have this current SEFY home page be a page to click on a link to in the welcome page. Your absolutley correct, it's called a splash page and it is a faster page to set the internet for your main page, It works very well.

A welcome page sounds much more appropriate by the way.

I just came up with this idea of warning mobile users that they gotta pinch-zoom a lot if they wanna see the fully-fledged front page after the "splash page".

Try this in style (css): iframe{ max-width: 90% !important; } img { max-width: 90% !important; }

now since YTMND.com shut down, Neocities could have a surge of new users in the next few months, or am I just speculating that?

that would be cool, but i kinda doubt it? i feel like most ytmnd users are probably focused on other stuff instead of website making

I'm sure some of them might have jobs IRL, that's understandable as to why they might not be all that active on the website.

this screams ytmnd i love it!!!!!!!

well, the other day I heard that Max Goldberg's ytmnd.com website has crapped out. Isn't it good that there are alternatives being developed too? There's also HTMLsites, and that Neocities page is awesome too!

I had to scale down a table on a page to pass the test

as an occasional mobile user, I'm just happy if the page is even viewable at all. I mastered the art of pinch zooing on pages designed for desktop users.

Google dev did a survey and users find pinch zooming to much work...LOL

Often times users want it yesterday and they want it free but we try to make our sites "user friendly" as we can.

Maybe what I could do, is make a simplified welcome page, and have that be mobile friendly, and have this current SEFY home page be a page to click on a link to in the welcome page.

there's some hype for a Madonna Madame X album coming out, and to find a Neocities user with madame (ending in extra e after) in the username kinda reminded me of that.

I like what you've done with the place. It's taking shape! P.S. I had no idea it was originally acapella. Thanks for introducing me to it.

well, if somebody with a username that pays homage to 7 Eleven is gonna comment to somebody who's username pays homage to the MP3 file format, you know that is a reminder that singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega was born on FREE SLURPEE DAY! She's gonna turn 60 this year, so don't forget to celebrate.
