Now, the Network Neighborhood has been created, so now Suzanne (and the other Suzanne as well) has a dedicated page for the 88x31 buttons that make Neocities world go round. Both for supporters of mine, and the nostalgic 88x31 buttons that characterize 90s Internet.
Well, I did say that there would be a hybrid of references to Windows 95 and Windows 3.1. I went with the Windows 3.1 style window buttons since I felt that real nostalgia would come from here. But, I also wanted to have a playful reference to the Network Neighborhood feature of Windows 95 which was used for navigating computer networks, but we are here on the Internet which is a bigger network body.
Yeah, I remember being able to log out of Windows 95 and get to a default DOS prompt where I could run some old games and Demoscene files that didn't work in windows.
I started getting interested in adding more Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 style icons after coming up with ideas for a collage on a brochure-style image for this site. The pre-XP era of Windows is one that really characterizes Geocities 90s nostalgia!
What I really meant to say, is that I started a new guestbook to replace the old one, since I found that many other Neocitizens have opted for guestbooks where one can post images in them, so I followed suit by replacing the old guestbook.
Here in Neocities, celebrities are portrayed in a fictional dimension partially based on IRL factoids about them.
It's so good!!!
I was just expanding upon my site as I've been commenting to awesome Neocitizens! The 90s is full of nostalgia!
