Hey good luck! I'm working towards the same. I'll be making a website for an artist soon, but it'll be static so I wasn't planning on a monthly fee. I'm pretty lucky in that the small town I live in has tons of local businesses, and a significant elderly population. So, there are a lot of businesses without websites that just have a facebook page or something.

No, and thanks for pointing that out- is that on PC? I just realized this happens on my mobile. I've been recently making a little fog effect at the side of the page, pretty sure that's the culprit.

Bummer, I believe it's with my widget system- assuming we have the same issue. The problem is I don't get it on my computer so it went unnoticed. This is a shame, I was really fond of the Dinosaur of the day and Galaxy of the day. I have temporarily disabled that widget just to alleviate the performance concerns of some users. Hopefully I figure out a fix that soon.

Actually, I think, I can get away with just disabling the warp drive widget (shocker..)
