Hi dumby (if that is your real name), I think we should have a little chat about HI-LO... https://imgur.com/a/rwYymYM

It's not actually broken! I just Figured It Out...

Basically the odds are better than 50% and the max bet is unbounded so I worked my way up until the numbers were no longer being represented properly. I played by the rules of your casino! You could calculate expectation values and probabilities of payouts but if it were me I would just cap the max bet at 10,000 and call it good...

you can't see which numbered card comes next in any way and you aren't manipulating the score higher while betting? i'm just surprised you guessed right that many times in a row. i'm not sure how to fix it, because i'd like to leave it without bounds lol. hmmm...

I always bet 10% of what I had until I reached a new power of ten, waited until I had three or so of that power, then bet 33% of my total coins, which usually pays off. If I flip a 7 or an 8 I cash out because those are the least likely cards for me to win on. The problem is that hi-low has simple odds and low complexity; if I pull a suit (or 2-5), the bet I should make is obvious.

So it's very easy to win (but not to chain for a long time). The mathematical way to balance the game would probably be to make the payout grow by some power as you chain plays and to hardly pay off in 1 or 2 rounds. I could think more precisely about it, right now I'm thinking off the cuff. Basically I think of hi-low as a more sophisticated pachinko in your casino, for building capital to play other games!

yeah, that makes sense. i don't know how i didn't see that you can basically break this game. i'm going to see if i can make it just a little more fair, because i really don't want to put a limit on how much people can bet. personally it breaks the fun for me.

If you want to keep bets unbounded the main tweak is probably pay off vs punishment for 1-2 flips. I didn't look at the actual odds but only felt it all out roughly; if I lose the first hand and then win two rounds, cashing out on the first hand on each, I think I made more than my money back, and those odds are > 0.5...

made multipliers slightly lower based on easy wins and higher based on harder wins, ties now cut you to 50% of your initial bet, and it no longer draws from a stack of 52 cards (pullings are forever random). i'm hoping that might fix it. i lowered your score to 20,000,000mil so that you're still well at the top but not overwhelmingly so with these new rules, i hope this feels fair! i'm bad at balancing...clearly...

Figuring out an exploit is its own reward... I should probably not play Hi-Lo anymore, because every time I lose it adds millions to the jackpot... Too bad I figured this out at the beginning of a month and not the end, heh

August 32nd update with "Cosmic Princess Kaguya!" and a convenient table of contents so both of you can jump straight to the new review!

Thanks for the follow. I flipped through your "nesirler" page. You got lucky to find a modded PS2! I would have committed light crimes for one of those in 2008.

Up until maybe 2016 I could still find old consoles for that price in thrift stores in the states, but those days are long gone... if you find more and clean them, do post!

I wish I could say any of it was mine, but unfortunately I wasn't even born with the "stick person" art gene! But I've known great people over the years who were generous with their art.
