Between this and finding troves of intriguing books and documents pertaining to marine physics and submarine sensor design in my granddad's house i feel like demons are trying to make me start studying oceanography in the midst of all the shit i already got going on

ohh ohhh you want to dabble in oceanography so bad.... real talk though i very much enjoyed reading "oceanography of the BC coast" published by the DFO for the crash course on oceanography and marine meteorology. i really like the way the book is formatted with clear and concise diagrams and definitions, making it much more generally consumable by hobbyists and local self-taught meteorologists like myself.

I often feel useless myself so you are not alone! I think it's a condition of modernity. At least that's what I'm blaming it on haha. In pre-modern times, most simply took up the family vocation or raised children following the long traditions of culture and geography. Modernity has freed us from those ancient routines... which of course is very freeing but also leaves us untethered from traditional sense of meaning.
