Okay I do have to give props to car-based infrastructure for one thing: driving alone at night in a thunderstorm with your music playing on the speakers does fucking rock
There are truly some songs that just WORK while driving as opposed to anywhere else. I'm not that big a fan of Smashing Pumpkins, but 1979 starts playing when you're feeling introspective on the highway and the sun is setting... it just hits.
