New blog post! Plus some new favourite films for 2026, CD collection updates and the usual book progress navel-gazing.

Scream is probably the horror movie I’ve seen the most. Was obsessed when I was younger. Also a big fan of The Thing!

re the horse cake onion article: one time i encountered a newspaper article about estonian draft horses, and it did have a little tangent about how they gave one of the horses a semla bun, because it was round that season. close enough to cake probably

I do not like horror movies in general BUT The Thing is one of my favorite movies.

@sneekrealm Aww, it makes me happy the draft horse got to have a semla bun! Although frankly I'm a bit jealous because those look absolutely delicious

A rather rambly blog post, plus a few list updates. Details in the changelog!

Your trip sounded lovely! As a fellow introvert, I applaud your desire to start chatting up strangers. I hope that goes well for you!

I complimented someone's Catbus tattoo at a cafe today. It's a start!

I am feeling influenced to watch Digger.

A bunch of bitty updates (see changelog for details). Writing is taking up basically all my free time at the moment so unfortunately the website isn't getting much love. I'll blog again eventually!

Hey, it's that overdue blog post I promised. Once again, I actually left my house and now you all have to hear about it

You left your house and survived to tell about it?

mmm falafel

Best Son has the same complaints about his friend group being socially flaky but calling it self-care and setting boundaries. He's a different generation, though (he's in his very late 30s). Oh man, I used to live in Berlin and I really miss the kebab shops!

@divergentrays Ooh, I've only been to Berlin once but I had some great falafel while I was there!

Just a bunch of book progress updates. I'm overdue for a blog post but things have been pretty busy recently.

New blog post, new page about Dragon Ball, and some other minor updates. Also it is this website's first birthday! (Well, technically yesterday was the first anniversary of signing up to Neocities, but I didn't post anything for a day.)

happy birthday ratlands !

Happy birthday! Glad you kept up with it, your site is one of my faves

Happy birthday!!!!!

Happy site birthday!! 🎉

Aww, thanks everyone!

Blog post about going to my first ever music festival (I had fun!)

Honestly a fair chunk of this is just incoherent squealing about Viagra Boys

Kudos for not dying of exhaustion at the festival. I don't think I could handle it! Viagra Boys are SO fun live. I saw them last summer and it was excellent

They're so good!!! I'd definitely love to see them again but it sounds like they're taking a break from touring for a bit soon (Seb said they had been "on tour for 28 years")

BABY'S FIRST FESTIVAL!! You were so prepared! It sounded like a great time. I've been meaning to get into Amyl and the Sniffers and just realized they are not in my spreadsheet so I have fixed that.

@distillation They're a really fun band! "You Should Not Be Doing That" is probably my favourite song of theirs, if you want a starting point.

A longish blogpost, plus the first week of second draft progress and some other random updates.

Oh ty for the Allegra Rosenberg link. I could do without knowing that about Gerard Way, but I do enjoy her writing and am just barely too young to be familiar with Usenet.

Good god Gerard 🥴

Camp Miasma was great!!

Mr. Jambo is so powerful, uniting my friends both Graceland haters and lovers alike.

Hahaha, I feel like I should apologise for sharing this Gerard Way info with everyone now

Big update on book progress, plus updates to the archery log, CDs, links, and a new favourite film of 2026

i got gifted the abba gold cd too :-0

thanks for the link!
