Oh, you are so sweet! Yes, I saw your Spotify Wrapped page and loved it. I can't stand most of the music I listened to last year because it brings back memories and feelings I don't feel connected to anymore. However, while they’re still around, I’d like to write about them. I'll be active here and there; I have the skills to make a website, but not the creativity, lol. Love your site, it's so cool!

omg thank you! obviously you're free to write about whatever you want, but writing about songs you no longer connect with might actually be mroe interesting than gushing about songs you love. although that's also fun. Your post about "e-fame" also reminded me of the concept of the democratization of beauty, which I learned about in grad school. Similar to your observations about fame on social media, as cosmetics (and today, cosmetic procedures) became more affordable and accessible, it put pressure on women to look a certain way. These are important ideas to explore and I'm interested to read more from you!

Thanks so much for commenting! Media Virus is a great book but it was a slow burn for me too. What's most interesting about that book for me is how Rushkoff talked down the line about how the ideas were co-opted by advertsing agencies. The virus mechanism he discusses he saw as a new way for counter culture but it ended up being studied by corporations for a new way to infect pop culture with brand imagery.

Yeah and a lot of those observations he made in the book are even more relevant today, as proven in some of your entries. I'm excited to finish the book and keep reading your stuff. Also thank you for your kind words! I want to make space in the small web for people who are into girly pop culture stuff, but honestly it's even better if people who don't like that stuff come to appreciate it, so that means a lot!

omg is that a reference to my site on your homepage? it makes me happy to think my site could have inspired content for yours. I also love your idea of making a digital teen magazine. I had similar dreams growing up and actually briefly ran a small WordPress site with the goal of growing into something like that. Not sure if you're planning to be more active on here again, but excited to see what you create if so!
