Hi there! Thank you for following. Good to see some musicians on here. It's possible I've heard your music before on YouTube playlists or the radio Deep Space One or another channel because Alpha Centauri seems really familiar (though YouTube shows many artists using this name). Also, btw, I get a certificate error when trying to navigate to your main website though (https://www.jowieschulner.com/) any idea why?

Neocities hive mind I need opinions. I've been using a Discord hook for ages to receive website comments for years but I'd like to move away from this. The main options seem to be using plain PhP or some kind of Wordpress thing. I'm leaning towards plain PhP. Any recommendations?

do the comments need to be moderated? how many are you receiving weekly approximately?

pixelglade 1 month ago

Moderation yes because I get spam and the rare abusive comment. Comments per year is maybe 2-4 because they are relatively infrequent. What I would like to do as the most similar thing to the Discord hook is to send the form information to an email address so I can manually add it to the site. The comments are infrequent enough that a system like that would work for me.

afaik, neocities doesn't allow php. the sites that I know of which have comment sections use third-party applications. I use Cactus Comments, I know some people use HTML Comment Box.

@hollymacycomic no problem, my site is hosted off site which does support php. It's only the splash page on neocities as a way of keeping a presence here

If you do use PHP (or any other method to write your own comments field), make sure you escape the input and test that it works. https://owasp.org/www-community/attacks/xss/

Thank you for the feedback, everyone!

If it's that infrequent you don't need anything other than a little blurb at the bottom of a given post/page that says "email your comments to blahblahblah@pixelglade.net" and then you can just punch it in yourself

holy hell your view count

Most of it happened when I was a subscriber to neocities and I was getting around 10,000-15,000 a day. I don't know where they came from but I think they were mostly bots since now I'm not subscribed amd only have a splash page it's only 2-4 views a day which seems more realistic.

I enjoyed reading about your process on this one. I've never thought to give myself such restraints. I'm particularly drawn to the texture in the wall and the yellows in it, the orange-yellow flowers, as well as the vibrant blues in the sleeves.

I might show some process images because some of the colours changed between the first day I did the painting versus the secons which consequently made the blue in the sleeves a bit brighter. I wanted to try make the yellow in the wall and the yellow in the character's hair blend a little. Thank you for saying you enjoyed reading the process, I didn't realise anyone actually did.

New screenshot study from Magical Girl Pretty Sammy. Got to experiment with some of Krita's default watercolour and painterly bristle brushes. https://pixelglade.net/updatesarchive.html#pretty-sammy-bg

I've changed the Creative Commons license my artwork and code is under. Code is now under GNU Public License V3 and Artwork is under CC BY 4.0 (before it was NoDerivatives-NoCommercial 4.0). Also added some small digimon icons as a treat. https://pixelglade.net/updatesarchive.html#copyright-license

Thank you for making the wallpaper archive, I've been looking for early 2000s wallpapers recently and even when using year filters, the results from search engines aren't fantastic. You've got a great collection here.

Posted a screenshot study. Also landlord is doing renovations so I need to move out, during a housing and rental crisis. Wish me luck. https://pixelglade.net/
