Just wanted to say that I think your writing about the original Animal Crossing is spot on. None of the sequels come even close to the original in terms of atmosphere and unique gameplay. I think you are right to point out the limitations as the reason why it works so good. It is often that through limitations and dealing with them creatively that you get the most magical results.
