Just curious, why do so many people host their images outside of neocities? Why don't you use neocities to host your images? Is it a space limitation issue for free accounts?

(if so you should probably start compressing your images, my whole site is 267.82mb and the entire thing is hosted on neocities with the exception of a few bits and bobs from Tumblr and Deviantart)

I exclusively host my art outside of Neocities. They're hundreds of images, and preserving image quality is important to me. That being said, every other image is hosted on Neocities.

Image quality + load time. Neocities hosted images always take way longer to load for me than almost any other site.

space limitation + to have a link outside neocities so ppl dont hotlink to my site :o i know ppl can still hotlink but hosting outside neocities gives the images a non-site link!! the only stuff i host on neocities are ppls buttons & pics i use for backgrounds

i host some on neocities, others specially bigger size files i host somewhere else however im trying to start the process of compressing them

I host the stuff for my site(s) on my site(s), but Neocities itself discourages people from using it as image hosting for off-site purposes. At first I was like, "hey what the hell, I pay for this service every month" but I bit the bullet and moved my non-Neocities stuff onto Imgur.
