while im not as mad at the change since my urls can finally look cleaner i wish it was just a togglable option in the site settings, dont know why it had to be straight up changed
Personally, I think the URLs for my pages look cleaner without the .html being added to them. But like you said, it should be possible for webmasters to toggle between having .html be visible or not.
it has nothing to do with coding and its not an issue at all, its actually a neat feature but. with neocities being more close to a "geocities revival" than a normal web hosting service, a lot of people prefer the web 1.0 style. which included .html extensions. imo it looked cooler so i miss it

it WAS a "togglablw" option. you used to be able to do that if the directory included an index.html
