I had similar dreams growing up and actually briefly ran a small WordPress site with the goal of growing into something like that. I always feel like I should tweak my layout for the month, but i just end up so bogged down with the proper Halloween sections, that it never happens
honestly that's probably better than my approach of getting so caught up in aesthetics, content lags. you've struck a good balance, I think!
