Going to move to a new host for pixelglade and scopefilter, I'll update you all with how it goes.😊 Will still try to keep a presence on Neocities because I like the community though, you all are pretty cool.

Looking at Swish Connect who have a small plan which ends up similar cost to Neocities. I found them through the Green Web directory which lists web hosts who are carbon neutral and they're also Australian so I don't have to deal with currency conversion. https://app.greenweb.org/directory/
Accidentally deleted my first post oops. I wrote my own GIF pauser which has 3 control options: toggle button (all animations), hover with mouse (invididual gifs), or keyboard focus (individual gifs). Animations are off by default now. The quick way to convert a whole folder of GIFs to PNG based on the first frame of the GIF is to use magick mogrify: magick mogrify -format png *.gif[0]

I checked how this works on my phone and the button works as expected. If you single tap a gif it seems to activate focus until you tap off so you can still toggle animations for individual gifs.
Added the article HTML tag to my blog posts. For some reason the View in Simplified Mode pop up isn't appearing even though I did the exact same thing on my other site and that does work... So I'll check later if it worked or not.

Hello! Someone told me I was added to the webring because they could navigate to my site with the Random button and the widget works when I add it to my site. But I can't see my site actually listed in the directory. Can I email someone about that?
Updated to add a guestbook entry from Quazar informing me I was added to the neocreatives webring and didn't realize it. And oddly my page isn't actually listed on their directory but the widget works when I add to my site so... I'm in a new webring. Wish I could disable the animation the widget though. 😵

You probably can if JS is an option for you- there are a few libraries for GIF pausing out there.
