Would love to hear your methods to avoid burnout. I am going back to college and had to take a break before due to burnout. Don't want to make the same mistakes again.
Fascinating way of approaching these interrelationships. Please continue. I look at it in similar ways. Sometimes we need to actively, intentionally rest. For example, muscles can be in a habitual state of tension even throughout the process of sleep ("armoring"). Self-massage, lie down flat, body scan, release.
If we define life as a constant struggle, then we will tire out real fast. Therefore, I do not see reality as a union of opposites, but of complements. A subtle but important distinction. Even medicine distinguishes between "eustress" and "distress".
A general model that I find helpful: When things get out of balance, they move from being complements that integrate into opposites that oppose. But because there is an endless nesting of these sorts of spectrums throughout reality, we can get some really complex behavior.
For example, hatred is opposition. It causes distress within the one holding it. However, a group of people can be united by a shared hatred. In that sense, they are complementary to one another while being opposed to themselves and another. Dissolution of some form, at multiple scales, is the result.
It is so much easier to live a life of peace, encouraging complementarity until all is unified into One. Not homogenization through force or manipulation, but ever increasing diversity in ways that are mutually beneficial towards All simultaneously. Hopefully that truth does not get lost in words or their interpretations.
I like the distinction between opposites and complements. I have read it before being described as antagonistic and non-antagonistic, but those words are a little too big, I think. still working on finding the right simple language to describe these things
๐ While it feels like lifetimes ago now, I still remember the wonderful conversations that we had (sometime around June of 2021) about similar subjects when I sent you the "Exploring Space and Time" booklet [ https://purelyconstructive.neocities.org/spacetime.pdf ]. Oh how time cycles!
