according to google, anything 15~20 years old is said to be 'retro.' from my recollection vaporwave was first getting rly big around 2015, so by that metric it'll be retro in about 5 years

Unfortunately, Rockstar gave up on RDO a long time ago. "The final major update was released in July 2021" and moved all their resources over to developing GTAVI. Honestly, the best thing they could do is drop support and servers entirely and give the community the tools to run custom servers... which might also allow for the fans to modify the online experience to add the quality of life things you suggested.
