this is really impressive stuff! adding BVH for collision detection will probably be needed at some point, unless the maps are very simple

thanks! i actually did start working on that but ran into an issue with it. many of my environment meshes have large triangles that span basically a whole dimension of the mesh, so the resulting bvh wasn’t very useful. i still need to think about how to proceed, will maybe have to subdivide some of the large triangles in my meshes

Really cool concept. And I love the soundtrack too. Has the soundtrack been released anywhere yet?

If you’re interested in new games for N64, the homebrew community just finished up the yearly game jam. 28 new N64 games (mine is called Mysterious Barricades): https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/16O90QHfmrCzl_heo2B8A__8Brx70I_On?usp=sharing

If you want to play them you will need to use the emulator called Ares (other emulators like Project64 won’t work) or with a flashcart you can write roms to

Wow, this is seriously impressive! N64 homebrew is one of the trickiest there is; I tried to get into it a few years ago and the documentation made my head spin (especially how it handles manually handles memory). Very very cool.

@cyberoccultismpg yeah it’s pretty tricky to get working well, the coprocessors crash over the smallest things and it’s rarely easy to track down the cause. But the open source libraries (libdragon and tiny3d) have come a long way over the past couple years, so development is a little smoother now

Oh marvelous! I'll have to give it a shot again at some point. These do seem to be gamechanging.

Congratulations - N64 was one of my first consoles, happy to see people are still making stuff for it.

It was my first console as well, and feels surreal writing software now that runs on it. Today was the submission date for this year’s N64 homebrew game jam, so there should be many more N64 games coming out in the next few days. Some of them are here: https://itch.io/jam/n64brew-game-jam-6/entries

the link for the words page in your updates box is broken. redirects to "ox.words" instead of "ox/words"
