As an Old, I've just learned of the existence of the app CapCut, which my child loves, and I feel like I should hate it on principle because it's "what the kids are into" but it's honestly so rad.

in my case i just use Shotcut, especially since theres no watermark with it. Open-source which is based, also available on multiple operating systems so W.

Shotcut has matured into a very good veditor; I just wish that FBSD's port was more stable. Olive is my primary video editor now for production, and I use Avidemux to clip. Both are reliable and efficient, and accessibility and comprehensive functionality are elegantly balanced in their interfaces.
