I can't remember the name, but there is an app that will give you a list of places that you can park at overnight without any problems. Most walmarts allow it, but not all. But if you have an expired registration, even if they allowed camping over night, you can still get towed.
@letslearntogether, yea i couldn't remember any of the names, but I know I came across them a few years ago, when I had taken the family on a camping trip and need a place to rest for the night.

you'll have better luck on BLM land. it's federal land that you can camp on at any time, campsite or not.
