I loved my furby. the exterior broke at some point, and I always took everything apart as a kid eventually, so i took out the voice box and it would "talk" by pressing a button, i pressed that button so much i can still hear it

Honestly I thought this was going to be a guide to increasing the fluffiness of a hamster. Clickbait indeed!!!

Genuinely will be thinking about this hamster essay. Something about the conscientious listing of facts up to and INCLUDING the end just hits. Thinking about shame around "failure to love", which becomes so visible in its ABSENCE here. The child's mind..

"They threw them in the lake afterwards" is when I knew this essay should've won a Newbery Award

If we all had the pragmatism and emotional regulation of your 8 year old self, therapy would be a thing of the past!

I got halfway into this thing before I realized that the hamster is named Fluffy and you're not giving out tips about how to make your hamster fluffier.

Update, I read it and I'm trying so hard not to laugh in the library... "THREW" is so wild I'm howling inside. Best blog post I've read in a really long time lmaooo

the matter of factness is hilarious, i can understand why teachers were probably cracking up at this

surely my extremely highbrow, once-in-a-generation hamster essay moved the teachers to tears of gratitude and awe, not laughter

I didn't even know the CIA even published such a thing, do they not want to write cool fun facts about all those files?

It was just stats about each country - demographics, size, holidays, etc. I use it all the time for work. Can’t help but think it was taken down for nefarious reasons. What, I don’t know. But I’m angsty now.

Very strange! And nothing I can find online anywhere saying it was going to go away. Nefarious, indeed!

Strange that it happened on the same day the longest-serving member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence sent this letter to the CIA Director: https://www.wyden.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/wyden_letter_to_d-ciapdf.pdf

Wow you added my button..! But not my actually button, instead the background stamp? Innovative.
do you have a button?? i couldn't find it, hence the background lol.
It's on the guestbook page ! Funnily enough, it's another manul stamp
Adding the background is genuinely such a good solution, though
ohh i see it now, i will replace it. :)
I hope it wasn't rude of me to point it out! I just thought you might have missed it
not at all, i appreciate it!
