one thing that really bothers me in the current animation landscape is that serialized, emotional, plot-driven cartoons like gravity falls and steven universe kind of get put on pedestals, yet lighthearted escapist comedies like uncle grandpa and clarence have revieved scrutiny or even overwhelming dislike.
ive also noticed that even some more light-hearted shows like amphibia, ducktales or even my favorite show OK KO, do incorporate some form of overarching plotline or "deep" emotional moments
as someone who's working developing a lighthearted comedy cartoon, it does make me wonder how people will percieve it if it does become a large-scale production. i dont want people to read too hard into it or look down upon it because it doesnt have an "epic plotline"
