But welcome to the club! I've been RSS-ing for 15 years. When it comes to keeping on top of new content, nothing's been able to beat it yet.

I was excited to see my local NWS offices have RSS feeds, but they've not had any content added to them. It's been a hassle getting updates from them since leaving Facebook D:

Hmm, I see my local office posted the winter weather outlook 18 days ago. Nothing for daily weather though. That would be nice to have.

You also, I will point out, write fast. But yes, they did not give me a PhD in the Englishes for nothing.

I admit I was skeptical at first that you truly did not want to collect those stamps. The way you so vehemently denied it sounded just like the kind of thing a person would say when they’re desperate to convince others they aren’t the type of person to collect stamps. But the more I read, the more convinced I became. Thanks for the the reminder of Mystic Stamps. I vaguely remember seeing those albums back in the 90s.

So, funny (and true) loophole, I never technically threw it out. I just never took it with me when I moved out of my dad's place and told him he could do whatever with it.

I can imagine! But the workflow is nicer and more nimble, no? I built my professional website after this one and used Hugo from the outset and love it. My one hangup with this one is the migrating of my posts. I COULD simply paste them in a folder and leave as is, but I'm so tooky that I would inevitably end up attempting to convert 150+ html into md and I think I need some major hyping up to even tackle it >.<

i read this as "yes, I did convert to a super shotgun a couple months ago", goddamn doom getting into my head ARRGH
skep

Yes, I definitely don't miss having to update all the navigation myself. No way I'd be converting all my 200+ existing posts to MD though; they can stay HTML for all I care. I am usually picky about these things but not here.

imagine not posting on your site for over a month, lol, what kind of shit writer you'd have to be to do something like that
skep

Yeah, after a month I think you'd have to give up writing altogether and take up stamp collecting or something

A month isn't really that long to go without producing polished art of some kind I'd say. In any case I just wanted to say I admire your commitment to creating a polished experience, and ability to write about the most mundane of things in an entertaining way. Which makes me wonder, do you do some other kind of writing outside of this website?
skep

"Art" might be overselling what I do a bit, but I appreciate the compliments. And I do! But not nearly as fun though. My day job is writing instructional documentation for software. Still a paid gig!

I am genuinely impressed by how often you update your site and how much content is on it. My site is just a trickle by comparison. I do know the feeling of "I should be writing something" all the time, but I also know that creativity is like the tide and comes and goes on its own terms.

Also, once in a state of extreme stress I almost took up stamp collecting as a hobby. I don't know how to say this in a way that doesn't offend actual stamp collectors, but if you find yourself starting a stamp collection that may be a cry for help.
skep

I actually *did* have a stamp collection, and now that I've remembered that fact I realize it would be something good to write about. So I'm going to leave you in suspense, which is the first time a stamp collection has ever had that effect on anybody.

It's nice to have that kind of rotation where one can tinker with the code, isn't it? I get writing droughts where I have nothing to say but then feel connected to my little site by adding little things here and there. It looks like you use an SSG? I regret not doing that, meh >.<
skep

I think you should do it anyway! The way I see it, nobody gets "good" at writing until they start doing it about things they genuinely care about. If you're feeling inspired, why not roll with it?

I... actually like it, for the most part. I remember you saying you thought it was one of Austen's weaker novels for its fairy-tale-ness, so I imagine it doesn't improve things if you have to trim out all the subtleties to fit it into a 2-hour runtime.
I will agree that the ending scene is really bad. It's so bad. I dread re-watching the movie because I don't want to be subjected to that scene again.
It's mostly that they took out the humor that was in the book and replaced it with their own bad humor. And cut out a lot of plot points to make room for random fancy shots of landscapes and statuary. And everybody was played so flat and subdued that it didn't make sense why any of the characters cared about each other.
Well if you make them hot then they don't need personality. Everyone knows this.
BBC Pride and Prejudice is superior. "Oh, my poor nerves!" Is what Mrs Bennett says when she sees the Kiera Knightly Pride and Prejudice.
Though, some of the casting choices weren't too terrible
I recognize I do actually have to watch that version at some point.
I think they could have gotten away with 5 hours instead of 6, but the BBC is much truer to the spirit of the book. They actually let people be funny and ridiculous.
