I'm really battling myself about adding the comment feature to my website... I don't want to fall into the trap of creating for an audience (like it was on social media) but i also would like for people to be able to connect with me based on shared interests without having to commit to an actual conversation if they don't wish to do so... tough choice xD

i've found that cbox is good for this. my guestbook and email are there if anyone wants to talk but cbox is nice for shorter stuff. and no one can like/react to comments there so it's not too social media-y

i super need a break from having to hear from anyone. site comments, guestbook, and worldoftext will be paused - email will be temporarily removed from the site, but it's still the same as it was. ill still be working, but probably not as actively as i was. (˘ ᗜ ˘)︵💋

The update should work now with your extension (in multiple browsers)! As for notifying the devs: they'll probably just view it as this is expected behavior when the DOM is rapidly mutating which is what was happening. The silver lining here is I got to work with a neat extension that I actually find somewhat useful!

I think your worry here is real, it'll definitely make the scene feel more "situated" than just floating in the void like now. So depends if you want a more room-like experience. I'd say you could go for a rug without messing with the vibe, though.

I figured it out. It was the Dark Reader add on which was causing it - very strange! This is in Waterfox. I tried Firefox without the add on installed and it doesn't do it, but then as soon as I activate dark mode with Dark Reader installed, broken. But light mode is fine. I've never had Dark Reader interfere with form inputs before so this is kind of interesting to me. Any ideas what the cause is?

Also I tried turning it on once I was in Notepad and the problem doesn't happen. It only seems to be the log in form. Haven't tried other programs.

Ok, figured it out: Dark Reader modifies CSS after each keystroke, causing the browser to lose focus on the password field during the style update. I implemented a fix that uses requestAnimationFrame() to automatically refocus the input after Preact re-renders and Dark Reader finishes its work. added onBlur handler catches unwanted focus loss and refocuses immediately, plus a few other things

Windows 99 has been updated. Neocities didn't give the thumbnails we were hoping for, so here's a confirmation! Try out Netmeeting2K with a friend (you can videochat in mid-90s video signal processing, and play chess simulatenously). There's also: MIDI Play Pro (much improved over the previous MIDI Play) and various other odds and ends! You can view the devlog for more details.
