It's just another sticker count update, but with a twist: I will now only mail out stickers in a big batch every week, instead of as requests come in. This means people will have to wait up to an extra 7 days to get their free stickers. Surprised I didn't think of this idea earlier since I've spent this entire week of free time modeling tablings for /100 and printing sticker envelopes, but here we finally are

I almost considered making my own video to take its place but then I remembered how nice it is to keep this place growing slowly. Not in like a weird gatekeepy we're-all-better-than-the-normies way but in a the-world-sucks-and-I'm-afraid-of-losing-Neocities-to-viral-growth way

i am a big supporter of more people moving away from mainstream socials, and there's plenty of free site templates around that i always like to encourage new users to play with (after all, i got into coding through making templates for my forum pages back when those were still cool). the greater concern is in greater userbase = greater expenses = selling out = enshittification

I'm only here because of that video admittedly. It came at the best possible time for me. I was off work recovering from a surgery feeling sorry for myself. Then I was captivated by his video and was so full of inspiration I spent just about every spare moment I had building a website and connecting with people. I think Neocities bar of entry is perfectly set. People who don't want to work on it won't last.

Sorry if I'm not the only person you've met recently whose been nonstop raving about this laptop, but I did get a yellow Macbook Neo because of the EU-forced repairability AND to spite Microsoft. But it also rocks to use and I can't wait for when I can hack it to put ARM Linux on it someday

I also went to the Apple store an hour south in Delaware to dodge the sales tax and even dug up my dusty old .edu email to claim the student discount. They didn't even check for any student email or ID, they just gave it to me and I do NOT look like a freshman lmao

i did something similar a few years ago - macbooks were like $2k in mexico where i lived at the time so i took a bus to texas, crashed on a friend's couch for a few days, got a new macbook and came home all for much cheaper than buying one in MX

a few months ago i got an m1 macbook pro from Back Market for about the same price as the discounted neo. i've honestly been annoyed with how much i enjoy it, as someone who's wanted to switch away from my iphone for years lol

Yeah it's funny, I don't have any other Apple device and I use this thing like a Linux user with the Terminal and shit, but man these laptops rock. Now that they're repairable anyway (I used to love Framework but the price tag on them... eeeesh)
