After lots of pondering and measuring some thoughts, I've made my decision: I'll be leaving Neocities. The community has changed a lot since the time I'd joined, and part of me feels it's time for me to move on to other web ventures and communities. I send lots of hugs to the Neo-veterans that stood with me since the first updates, and to all the folks that joined me in this as well. You're all very talented <3

It was a very wild journey being here, and while I still like many sites and artists from here, I need to focus on my mental health, my life, and other things. That doesn't mean I'll be abandoning my site endeavors, I'll just be elsewhere... taking care of my stuffs, and running after the spark that brought me so close to web design to begin with.

i can tell the community has grown and became more mainstream than what it originally was. i knew someone who was on neocities about when you created your site and i was inspired by him to do the same

@error-666 In a very odd way, the way some people would yap on status updates nowadays was reminding me a lot of text posts I would see on Bluesky or Twitter. Back then, things felt a lot more casual, I think - just people giving simple updates on their pages, and this whole thing of the community feeling tightly knit and fun. I was inspired by my friend Lu to do it, and it completely changed my mind!

@ninacti0n i've also noticed that. i don't blame you for escaping an environment where it feels like there's pressure to perform or have a "presence". that kind of shit i also cannot stand. i hope you get on a new cool thing that feels like what neocities was for you even if it ends up being pretty different!

@error-666 Yeah, definitely! As someone who's experienced the social media cycle and is beginning to pick up the signs here, I wish to unwind and go towards something simpler. I was thinking about 32-bit cafe, since its aimed at adults who enjoy web designing, but I'm also on the lookout for some other fun forums. I'm already hosting my site on HelioHost, so I'm chill with that
