thinking about that one time in pokemon gen 1 where the rival challenges you to a battle right before you enter a pokemon center. i'm just imagining the rival bragging "ha! you lost! now you gotta take your pokemon to the center" and the player responding "which is what i was trying to do in the first place!"

while early spongebob ends up feeling closer to nick's first 2000's cartoon than their last 90's cartoon, i would say season one was kind of a last hurrah to the network's way of doing things in the 90's -- it was even animated in cell!
