2025.09.16 // Well two days ago I woke up, put on the over-ear headphones, and listened to /The Sign/ in its entirety, as usual. I can't write without Amelia's favourite album running through my head, duh. Is it time at last?, I thought--enough brain space after weeks of helping two separate parties move house? Then I saw a sticky note reminding me to update the glossary. Ch. 10 still awaiting transfer from brain to
keyboard. Alas. However, friends, the world of the Hex, which won't even pop up in the narrative for a few years, is much more expanded in the glossary now. So many types of jobs with which you can while away your frames.
If anyone is ever like, I'd like to know what the hell is going on with this story but I don't feel like reading the whole book so far--rest assured, email me and I will send you a 3k word, hypomanic screed about any and all of it.
Well today is the day to get my gecko a new front-opening terrarium, I think. Sometimes I'm like, why did I set myself up for a chapter like this. "Dune-scale sci-fi epic about sentient trees" playing out while the main character narrates through a massive dose of THC? Literally two chapters ago I had to research and think up a whole opera.
And then I recall that this isn't my style, necessarily. Karim/Cuprate *cannot* turn down a challenge, even his final and greatest challenge of writing a story about himself. So of course he's going to make ch. 10 happen. As his invisible god, I can't let him down.
