Many people think that Y2K was an optimistic, naïve time in American history. Forgetting Dolly, Raël, the Unabomber, Monica Lewinsky, strangers online, and other 1990s apocalypses? https://fabled.day/before/horribad

I updated an older trinket on my site. It's a series of snippets for displaying your site's table of contents as a collapsing group of unordered lists, and a bit about graying out links and list items that are incomplete. https://fabled.day/codes/tabled

Your site has such a unique and fascinating premise! It shows so much creativity and attention to detail. Excited to explore more.

Finally finished my little list of reasons the 2000s were terribad. Nostalgia can be a great comfort but I'm not losing sight of the actual past, here. https://fabled.day/before/terribad.html

Oh I was looking forward to this! I recognize everything you described except for the webcam situation, somehow I was never exposed to that. And I agree... it was all terribad.

very good post. while i personally look back really fondly on the social infrastructure of the 2000s, culturally it was clearly horrible and i'm routinely astonished how easily people memory-hole the bush era - it was a time of such extreme cultural stagnation that i still do not think we've even come close to topping

Just found your site and I agree with this post 1000%. I would also add that most of comedy from this period is all about punching down at minorities. I think that alone is like half the reason the 2010s got all progressive with how to talk about people.
