this is so awesome!! Madhouse at the end of the earth is sooooo so good i love that book so much. i love seeing fellow franklinheads on this site !!!
(i really do adore the layout of all your pages... the media page is so charming!) i totally get what you mean about poetry books being touch-and-go/not your style. i love poetry and i would say i dislike the majority of books of poetry that i read just because there's so much variance. personally i feel i prefer reading individual poems, but i still go into every poetry book hopeful 😅 i would say the only 3 i loved
+ in their entirety are "power politics" (atwood), "creeland" (hunt), and "black pastoral" (benson). sorry for the longish comment lol!
no thank you for your long comment im delighted ^_^ i want to like poetry collections so bad but none have lived up. i definitely will look into the ones you mentioned, ive wanted to read the benson for a while... i get so disillusioned that end up not enjoying even the ones i might like which is frustrating
the final poetry book im going to attempt is "so many rooms" by laura scott because im obsessed with her poem about fish (https://file.garden/ZRZKxMpOlUzNlhAK/fish.png)... im staying hopeful<3 also this was the poem that made me buy rookie: https://file.garden/ZRZKxMpOlUzNlhAK/checkout.png
!! i remember "if i were a fish" because part of a short story i wrote was inspired by it... really quite lovely. hadn't read "checkout" before but the last line... 🚬 sad to hear the collection was a bust because i really liked it
I KNOW IT DROVE ME CRAZY like Ogh. Are you kidding me. whatever though heres to hoping laura scotts is better
tbh i love poetry books but i can't sit down and read them all the way through at once or i never actually pay attention to the pieces & focus too hard on getting through it. i have to take my time & read like one or two poems a day for a month+ LMFAO. like hanif abdurraqib's the crown ain't worth much and danez smith's homie & black movie are incredibleeee but i read Real slow
i think thats the move actually youre right because i read it like a book and well that did not work out for me. maybe ill try to read 1 poetry book a month. that might be good
completely agree w your take on adolescence, i dropped it at that ep w the car ride to the store! and i’m so glad you’re enjoying new girl<3 it has its lulls like any show but some rly great funny moments ^^
I agree about Adolescence, too. The acting was incredible, but the writing was cliché. The subject matter is very interesting and important right now, though.
im glad im not an outlier on adolescence because the reviews i saw acted like it was the greatest piece of television in the last year and i was like HUH! also people equating it to baby reindeer made me mad because baby reindeer was such a masterpiece
