For what it is worth, the title of this one was actually inspired by my literally failing out of a philosophy PhD program after failing a class called "Philosophy of Authenticity," so it may be a glass house situation, though??

Really interesting to read as someone who started using it in 2006, and was a daily user from late 2012 to late 2017. And met all of my friends and my partner of 13 years there. You're right on the money.

"There are ... turns of phrase even online that you likely use, dating back to 4chan." I thought about this literally only an hour ago when I was at work and unconsciously responded to someone with "based".
