Discord is a proprietary spyware program. Why not use the tried and tested IRC instead? https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/discord.html
Mainly because of the userbase. I did spend a lot of time on IRC between 1998-2000, but I don't know of as many who stay active on those networks.
