This is fascinating. I never knew there was an era where you needed to enter your hard drive specifications to install an OS. This might be a stupid question, but would using a virtual machine to install this be an option?

Hi koshka, I actually have even less experience with virtual machines, but I'm guessing the same setup paramaters the process is asking for would still pose an issue. However, it would be an ideal option if I didn't have a spare computer to tinker with.

Wowee! Sorry you got zapped! Hope you're all good now. I thought the days of getting shocked from unplugged stuff went away with CRT monitors. Thanks for the warning!

My finger ached for a little while after! I certainly take more care when dealing with power supplies and this has been a good lesson since I've never really had a shock before.

That OpenLinux is a treasure. I love finding old computer relics like that. I hope you manage to get it working!

Old monitors can go out like people with chronic diseases sometimes. I had one that would stop working in all sorts of ways and then start working again without issue the next day or after being rebooted over and over.

@koshka I like that analogy! I miss the CRT I had that failed with a clear bang.
