I feel like I'm going to end up in a similar boat and try to get off the grid too. Are you in the states?

Is there there enough sunlight in your area to go off the grid with solar panels only? Given how UK is stereotypically seen as a cloudy and foggy place.

@saint-images Providing one can have enough solar panels facing in the right direction, yes. There is enough sunlight on cloudy days for the panels to each provide some wattage.

@kazuhisa I have actually considered this; sadly I doubt my setup is well protected. The best one can do is have devices powered down and unplugged. Perhaps a Faraday cage over some things could help.

I did try using Brave Search during its initial stages, but the search results needed improving on. I wonder if it has changed since then. Another search engine I use is Ecosia, alongside DuckDuckGo, which you could look into.

@mimakrg, I tried Ecosia a couple of years ago; I liked the idea of trees being planted but at that time I learned it used Bing for its search results, and Bing doesn't have the greenest data centres.
