Going to dollar stores and seeing this kind of thing irl is a one of a kind experience. Last time I went to one I saw a minions t-shirt that said "LE BUDDIES" in big bold letters, an Elsa doll labelled "Diversity Princess", and in the card games section I found the sequel to Uno; Dos. Left the store disoriented and confused and feeling like I just visited another dimension, would recommend.

We had a couple of those in front of our house and a pair of house finches would nest in one. Unfortunately we did have to remove them because they were planted right above the sewer line that goes to the street and the roots kept growing into the pipes. Mourning Doves must be so widely spread beause they can tolerate human presence, a sad advantage that some creatures have and others don't.

I also think that while the arborvitae may be the tree of life, it's a pretty wretched landscaping plant. It just grows into an untameable blob after a while. (Also everyone around here pronounces it arbor vi-tee instead of arbor vee-tai. I know it's wrong but I say it that way to avoid looking like a snob.)

Puzzmo does do a big crossword twice a month, but admittedly I do somewhat miss the NYT Saturday. I also subscribe to AVCX to help fill in that gap.

I go through phases every few months where I will play a game every morning for a while. I like a lot of Puzzmo stuff. Can never be arsed to sign up for anything, though. If you haven't heard of Raddle, that's worth checking out, too.

It's been fun to see how by surprise this has been taking people because as someone who doesn't find RHCP so repealing, this feels like it's been coming for a long time as he's never been quiet about his love for jazz and desire to do something in that sphere (his first instrument was the trumpet and all) - it's just been his own confidence stopping it. Been nice to see these random, kind of positive reactions to it

Hey yes thanks for the cheers. I did find the prank funny! I don’t really believe in astrology but I do find it amusing, so fair play on riffing on the horoscopes a bit. Actually every month I try to go for a sillier, more irreverent tone, but they keep coming out sounding more serious than I intend. Maybe by December they'll be where I want them

Ah, I see. Yes, it's a TLD, but it's not custom. They released a whole bunch of new ones a number of years ago for more variety. They're generally not prohibitively expensive.
