i've been keeping track of the zines i'm reading in my media log page!! (with links to where to buy/read them when i can find them online!!) all the ones i've read so far this yr have been great so i rec all of them for sure
i could do javascript objects (like on my hill house covers page) but that'd still be tedious to update.... i was investigating using a google sheet as a backend for it but i don't love the idea of it being dependent on another website to keep running.... much to consider (& if anyone has suggestions pls lmk!!)
ikwym! i have a similar issue with a media log/monthly update page. First off I love how you visualize data on your logs! Second, if youre worried about the user experience I would say that most people that are invested enough to explore will be patient enough to let everything load, but you could also consider a site preload option? And if you find a solution for handling updates let us know! it'll come. xo
aw thank you!! it's less user experience (tho obv that's always a concern too) and more that it started lagging pretty badly when i was typing things into the file (definitely partly bc i was writing directly into the neocities editor, which i don't generally do except for smth that needs little updates constantly like this - but it gets p slow once you pass 2k lines of html lmao). we'll see where i end up!
caveat: idk shit about fuck wrt dataviews n stuff but have you considered obsidian+various apps/addons including dataview? i know some ppl do some real neat stuff with it! but that's lowkey depending on another site so perhaps not but i just wanted to bring it up!
i've tried to wrap my head around obsidian a few times and it hasn't ever properly clicked for me tbh!! i think i'm gonna go the google sheet route after all + just try to paste it directly into my site at the end of the year for safekeeping maybe!
looooove these pages!! also e.m. carroll mention hell yeah
i love both of these pages so much! love the use of horizontal scrollling to make the museum feel like an irl museum, and also that each poem has their own gorgeous custom designed page ^^
