ill be the first to say i think those youtube videos about the indie web are really annoying. have they ever considered that by posting videos of them browsing indie websites they undermine the point of indie websites. this comment has been made possible by my first appearance in one of these videos

yes! especially since a lot of people here left/renounced other forms of social media for various reasons. i get the gesture but there's a reason people choose to create and exist within the indie web, so to disregard that (by putting a site in one of these vids) without even asking before hand...cmon...

it feels strangely voyeuristic sometimes like it's making a spectacle out of sites created Out of the desire to get out of social media making a spectacle out of everything 😭 i wanna give the benefit of the doubt but i fear it invites a lot of the 'doing things for the aesthetic and then getting bored of it 2 months later' type of crowd

that is such a good point. it feels like common courtesy to at least ask if people want to be featured?? I think it's interesting because surely the thought is "well who wouldn't want to get more exposure, and more followers?" which is a very conventional social media way to see it

Men receive so few compliments they remember them for years. I also worked at Walmart lmao. Two of them actually. First was fun as it was all college kids and qt3.14 grills. Second was full of "lifers" and depressed the hell out of me.

Mine was very Haitian. I was one of only a few employees that spoke English, and it was a biiig Walmart 🫩 it wasn't too bad, but I was uniquely miserable because I was new to the area and I had no friends. I had a lot of fun with a few of the guys that actually did speak English, but we were still from different worlds. A 70yo white lady that transferred in was my best friend.

Okay actually though I did kinda enjoy the old Haitian ladies flirting with me. And a few younger, my own age, one of them actually kinda insanely sexy in a strange way. I just wanted to go straight home every day though, it was such boring misery working there. Even on Adderall.
