Look at it this way, soon enough anyone who wants to speak their minds on the internet without censorship will need to take some initiative, learn some HTML and code their own websites, thus helping kill the "angry tweet/corporate nepotism" internet as a whole, or at least provide an alternative. Either way, I see it as an improvement to what we've got. I mean, isn't that why we're all on Neocities anyway?

Learning how to code should ALWAYS have remained a prerequisite for having a voice on the Internet. 'Tis an excellent NORP filter.

Problem being going through such efforts to learn coding and run their own website will remain relatively niche. While it serves as a decent filter for maintaining a community, reality is that most online discourse will remain highly regulated/censored on more mainstream platforms. Most people will gladly give up freedom of expression in favor of an easy to use platform that removes any uncomfortable truths.
