Beautifully put! Perhaps that's why low-res photography is so appealing.

I agree. Very eloquent! And I am particularly fond of that last image. I once read an art book that pointed out something similar: "The marks themselves are abstract and take their form and meaning only in relation to each other." How one thing only makes sense in reference to other things is almost a metaphor for life.

There is indeed great artistry in deciding both what to add and what to take away from a photo or drawing, much like how music is composed of both sound and silence. I suppose the same could also be said of life; we create different situations and experiences through the behavior, thoughts, and feelings that we choose to entertain.

i've come to really apreciate dithering as an aesthetic since seeing the work of the folks at solar.lowtechmagazine.com. Great work!

I was going to send you scans, but I figured I should make a guide for everyone instead: https://letslearntogether.neocities.org/art/SacGeo/pentapsalms01.html The "Fibonacci Star" is one that Robert Beard covers in the book, but he analyzes it in incredibly deep detail. More constructions later.

I really cannot get over how lovely these are! This kind of stuff always takes me back to those peaceful moments of focusing on geometric forms in a kind of mandalic meditation. When we go deep enough, the order of The Universe presents itself to us, beckoning like a lush garden filled with warm sunlight.

One of the most inspiring and beautiful mathematical works that I have ever come across is "Patterns In Space" by Robert Stanley Beard. You might have already heard of it. If not, can I share some constructions out of it with you?

Beautifully said, Sage! Each glimpse at The Order is truly a gift. And I haven't heard of Patterns In Space, but I'm excited to see it here on ThriftBooks! Of course I'd appreciate some selections of Mr. Beard's constructions! Thank you!

Really cool! I love constructions and sangaku have all sorts of interesting geometry (usually involving tangent circles).

Yes! I learned about sangaku while looking for simpler ways to construct regular pentagons. Very interesting.

Dann's story hits home a bit too much, even if for different holidays...

I know what you mean! The change and the longing gets us all. But we amble on. Dann captures it well :-)

Cool drawing and idea! A spine more flexible than a traditional sketchbook is always nice.

Is everyone staying hydrated?

Yup! The desert is dry, so I keep a giant water bottle (a repurposed aloe vera juice container) next to me throughout the day. ❤️
