Nice explanation of the detective fiction/heist story dichotomy, really made me think. I haven't read this book but I've seen the Shadow and Bone series. The series had a steampunk vibe and was quite involving but not terribly nutritious. I felt that the worldbuilding had great potential but the emotional dimension was a bit unsophisticated.
