Today I signed into a random Tumblr account I made 1.5 yrz ago. The UI isn't glitchy anymore, the site seems more polished, all the random cool Japanese artists I followed are still there, and the recommendations are suggesting more cool random Japanese artists. 10/10 would not visit Tumblr again for another year.

That Samsung SSD is really good. I also used one. I used to think 4GB RAM is enough and more is a bloat, but I've recently started to think OS should run on RAM. More ramdisks with a faster RAM is always better than faster storages. By the way, the most important thing for the older people (and people who have similar use cases) is usually the network speed. When you have to change, change the network before the PC.

I hate reading about pc building because it makes me want to do the same, but saving money right now lol. i'm glad your parents are enjoying their new PC

This is a really interesting read, quite a lot to think about. I have only tangentially heard of Mastodon and had no idea of the wider history behind it nor its alternatives.

There are also Mastodon-Twitter crossposters, so you can spend most of your time on one platform while still enjoying the network effects of the other.
