I run my own XMPP server. As long as you use OMEMO encryption, it shouldn't matter what provider you use. Some servers do make registration easier or might have more uptime than others, but that's it. Chatting is done just like in any regular old chat client: you add people by ID (user@server.xyz) and join group chats by invitation or by ID.
yeah alright, thanks for the info, i registered for a disroot account for xmpp, but if i find i use xmpp frequently enough, i'll also look into self hosting :)
i went to a conventioned and played alot of fighting games with people which rocked, and labbed a bunch of blazblue and persona the day after, so theres a bunch of new clips in the fg clips page
